Typography is the art of selecting fonts and typefaces, point size, line length, spacing and tracking etc. in order to arrange type to make it aesthetically pleasing and appealing. My friend Su Jayne Devine creates beautiful gifts for magicians (and non magicians too!) using this technique which she sells from her facebook page.
Su recently asked me to provide a list of cups and balls related words, some of which she used to create a wonderfully artistic picture of a set of cups. Su's skill in creating such a wonderful picture from words alone is admirable. In addition to this, she also creates pictures of famous magicians of years gone by.
Su provides these with or without a frame and they are £12 or £10 respectively, plus postage and packing and payment via cheque or paypal. They are created on an off white linen type paper and the shading is created by different thickness’s of type, bold and regular to create a very pleasing image to adorn any magic den.
They can be mounted on a wall or stood using the stand on the back of the frame (assuming you choose the framed option.)
I really love mine (and yes I did pay for it, I'm not giving it a favourable review because it was gifted to me) and it's currently on display on the mantle.
It's rare to find such a lovely gift for a magic friend (or yourself) which is such good value for money. Not only do you have a beautiful picture, you are also paying tribute to some of the effect itself and the giants who's shoulders we stand upon! Highly recommended!
